16th and 17th April 2015
You are interested in how the yellowed varnish is removed from an old painting; how the painted layer is glued on a sculpture; how a paper artwork is cleaned; how documentation about architectural heritage is prepared or a prehistorical vessel is reconstructed? Your kids wish to take an effort at restoration? You own an artwork but don’t know how to properly keep and care for it?
For the World Heritage Day, on 16th and 17th April 2015 the Croatian Conservation Institute is organizing its Open Door Days, aimed at promoting art conservation and restoration.

With features such as tours of conservation workshops, presentations of treatments, film screenings, and children’s workshops we wish to give the general public direct insight into the work of conservators and restorers, and at the same time, through our Clinic for Artworks we wish to share the knowledge of our experts with owners of artworks about the conditions for their safekeeping and preservation.
Aside from the Zagreb departments in Ilica 44 and Šalata (Zmajevac 8), on April 17th the Conservation Departments in Split, Ludbreg, Rijeka, Osijek, and Dubrovnik will also open their doors to the public.
The Open Door Days programme is available here.
