International conference and workshop, Ludbreg, Croatian Conservation Institute / Ludbreg Conservation Centre, 8th-18th June 2004
The June 2004 international conference was dedicated to the preservation and conservation of paper - namely to graphic materials. The 11-day conference programme included two restoration workshops and 24 lectures, bringing together 31 lecturers and workshop coordinators and 23 workshop participants with another 50 people attending the lectures.
The Croatian Conservation Institute and the Croatian State Archives organised the event. The conference was made possible through the financial support of the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Science, Education, and Sports of the Republic of Croatia, but also courtesy of the organisational and financial support of UNESCO Office in Venice (ROSTE).

The goal of the conference was to stage a wide variety of lectures providing a range of practical solutions for conservation-restoration experts specialising in paper, especially graphic art. In choosing participants, special emphasis was placed on institutions from countries of Southeast Europe (Macedonia, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia), whilst the lecturers arrived from Great Britain, Belgium, France, Austria, Slovenia and Croatia.
Open lectures and a workshop led by English experts were held at the Ludbreg Conservation Centre of the Croatian Conservation Institute, whilst another workshop was organised and held at the Croatian State Archives in Zagreb.
