Workshop, Split, Croatian Conservation Institute / Regional Activity Centre, Priority Actions Programme, 29th September – 3rd October 2008
“Trainmonher” was a two-year international project (2006-2008) within the Sixth Framework Programme (FP6), whose objective was to implement multidisciplinary modules in the field of restoration and valorization of cultural heritage. Followed by an initial comparative survey aiming to identify specific needs in education, a new set of theoretical and practical modules for under- and post-graduate students and cultural heritage experts was developed. The programme was also available through an e-learning platform. Supported by the EU, the project sought to promote and strengthen higher and professional education in developing countries in the field of cultural heritage protection (monuments). Another part of the project consisted of educational courses held in Morocco and Mexico, with the final workshop in Split organized by the Croatian Conservation Institute. As a part of “Trainmonher”, the project of the Diocletian’s Palace restoration was presented to students of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture and Department for Conservation and Restoration of the Arts Academy in Split through guided tours of the city’s historic core and lectures focusing on scientific and restoration examination of stone material and stone restoration.
