Split, Split City Museum, September 2009

An exhibition presented the research and conservation-restoration of wall paintings in the splendid Bajamonti-Dešković Palace in Split. The rich programme of the three salons on the first floor, their luxurious execution and the complexity of compositions are unparalleled in the 19th century painting in Dalmatia, making the palace a monument of exceptional cultural and historic value. The years of neglect and a serious damage which was inflicted by an unconscientious owner during construction work on the second floor in 2003, made a conservation-restoration intervention necessary. Since 2004, this demanding task has been carried out by Croatian Conservation Institute's experts from the Section for Wall Painting, Stucco and Mosaics in Split.
