Split, Conservation Gallery, May 2000
In 1996, systematic conservation work began on the most endangered areas of the Cathedral in Split, ranging from the conservation of the roof, the cleaning and conservation of stone on the front, the construction consolidation of the Baroque choir, to installing appropriate lighting in the interior of the church and consolidating archaeological sites in the immediate proximity of the cathedral.

It was also the occasion to initiate a series of conservation treatments on art pieces from the cathedral interior. Among others, it comprised the following pieces: frescoes on the 15th-century vault of the St. Domnius Chapel, silver reliquaries from the treasury, eight paintings by Capogrosso dedicated to the Virgin, which are located underneath the Altar of St. Domnius and date from the 17th century; four paintings by Matej Ponzoni Pončun (17th century) with saintly portraits from the sanctuary; six large-format paintings by Petro Ferrari from the choir of the cathedral, with scenes from the life of St. Domnius (17th century) and an archbishops wooden throne which belongs to Venetian woodcarving of the early seicento.
