Zagreb, the Art Pavilion, September-October 1983
The exhibition marks the 35 years of the Institute for the Restoration of Works of Art by presenting its activity during that time. Most of the protective treatments exhibited were performed on paintings and wooden polychrome sculpture. The exhibition was a way to encourage the recognition of conservation as a complex procedure for renovating works of art, while most strictly preserving their original values, aiming to prolong their life and allow for a more complete experience of those remarkable achievements of the human spirit.
The accompanying bilingual (Croatian-English) publication brings articles on the development of the institute, its activity and approach to the conservation of art. In its second part, it brings a catalogue of works, where in some 70 pages conservation treatments are presented in image and in text.
