'Portal' Journal
Croatian Conservation Institute's periodical, Portal, is a peer-reviewed academic journal published annually since 2010. Directed at presenting research and professional papers on investigations, treatments, results, theoretical reflections and historical overviews, Portal is open to papers from both the Institute's staff, as well as all those who wish to contribute, professionally and scholarly, to the reflection and promotion of art conservation and restoration. Owing to its comprehensive abstracts in English, the basic content of each paper is also available to international experts.
The journal Portal is categorized as a1, the top group of national journals, and indexed by HRČAK, ERIH PLUS, Scopus and ESCI.

The sixteenth issue of Portal, the annual scientific and professional journal of the Croatian Conservation Institute, features 28 papers devoted to topics related to the research and conservation of the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Saints Stephen and Ladislaus in Zagreb. There are eight original scientific papers, six preliminary notifications, ten review articles, three professional papers and one scholarly essay.

The ninth issue of Portal journal, annual scientific and professional publication of the Croatian Conservation Institute, features eleven papers that cover topics in cultural heritage protection. Eight of those are original scientific papers with one article from categories preliminary notification, review articles and professional paper. Ten articles were published in Croatian and one in English. Attached to the articles is a CD containing a catalogue of the Institute’s conservation work in 2017.
The eighth issue of the Portal journal, annual scientific and professional publication of the Croatian Conservation Institute, features eleven papers presenting topics in cultural heritage protection. Seven of those are original scientific papers, and four are review articles. Ten are published in Croatian and one is in English. Attached to the articles is a CD containing the catalogue of the Institute’s conservation works in 2016, with 248 items listed.
The seventh issue of the journal Portal, the yearly scientific and professional journal of the Croatian Conservation Institute, presents nineteen research and professional papers on various topics in the field of cultural heritage protection. Along with papers, Portal also provides an annual overview of all research programmes and conservation works that the Croatian Conservation Institute performed in the year prior to this issue (2015), in the form of catalogue items on the enclosed DVD.

Papers in the latest issue are arranged according to a previously established structural division (Immovable, Movable and Archaeological heritage) and comprise various topics. Architectural heritage is represented by two articles focusing on the history of mansion construction, their valorization and guidelines/recommendations for renovation – the Opeka Mansion in Marčan and the Jakovlje Mansion (Petar Puhmajer and Viki Jakaša Borić). Portal is a yearly scientific and professional journal of the Croatian Conservation Institute, covering a wide range of topics in the field of cultural heritage protection.
Articles (in the second issue of the journal) address various topics: from theoretical reflections and the history of conservation-restoration practice in Croatia to accounts of long-term and comprehensive conservation-restoration works, such as those in the Old Town of Hrvatska Kostajnica or the results of individual investigations like the analysis of the stone-masonry markings on the Veliki Tabor Castle or the research of the Kaštel Palace in Tar...
In its first issue, authors address a number of topics and present researches in conservation-restoration and similar disciplines. The journal contributes to the theory and practice of protecting Croatian cultural heritage, especially focusing on direct interventions on the artefacts themselves. The featured CD presents the Croatian Conservation Institute’s overview of research and works for the year 2009, in the form of 273 catalogue items.
