The Conservation-Restoration of Diocletian’s Palace Peristyle in Split

An exhibition presented the results of the 2004 and 2005 research and conservation-restoration work, carried out on the northern part of the eastern colonnade. This was the pilot phase of the full scale project to rehabilitate and protect the Peristyle.
Owing to the scale and complexity of the work, it was estimated that the conservation-restoration work on the Peristyle would take about 8 years.
The exhibition also introduced the laser technology, used for the first time in Croatia as the main method of removing soiling off the stone surfaces.
